Welcome to Wrexham – The Emmy-winning docuseries has just locked in a rare three-season renewal that guarantees fresh episodes through 2029, promising viewers an extended front-row seat to the Welsh club’s breakneck climb up English football’s ladder.
- In short: Hulu and Disney+ commit to eight total seasons, banking on Wrexham AFC’s real-life push for Premier League promotion.
Why Disney+ Bet on More Seasons
The new agreement adds Seasons 6, 7 and 8 to the existing order, an unusually long extension in unscripted TV. According to Variety’s industry tracking, multi-year deals of this length are generally reserved for runaway audience hits, underscoring the show’s global pull.
Season 5 is already dated for 14 May, debuting with a two-episode drop on FXX and Hulu before rolling out internationally on Disney+, mirroring the release cadence that has kept binge-watchers hooked since 2022.
“We’re thrilled to keep telling Wrexham’s story in the years ahead,” celebrated co-chairs Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds upon signing the deal.
What It Means for Wrexham’s Premier League Dream
The cameras will continue to chronicle the club’s meteoric rise: after three consecutive promotions, Wrexham now sit seventh in the Championship with five matches left—one spot shy of the playoff zone that leads to the Premier League.
Financially, the exposure is paying off. Deloitte estimates that clubs reaching England’s top tier can see annual broadcasting revenue surge past £100 million, a windfall the series is poised to dramatize should Wrexham seal the leap.
